Why Cannabis?

Cannabis is currently the only psychedelic plant medicine available for legal use in psychedelic therapy and psychotherapy settings in the United States, as well as the most accessible.

More importantly, Cannabis is an incredible medicine to work with in psychedelic therapy. Since cannabis has a “shapeshifting” nature and can mimic other medicines, no other medicine creates such a diverse psychedelic experience

In our experience, a Psychedelic Cannabis Journey starts like an MDMA experience, then it morphs into a psilocybin experience. A very significant number of journeyers also state that they experience ayahuasca-level and DMT-level trips, especially if we add certain breath-work practices. We are becoming more and more convinced that cannabis used skillfully may be as effective as MDMA in treating PTSD.

We have had Psychedelic Cannabis experiences that were indistinguishable from MDMA, psilocybin, LSD, peyote, ayahuasca, N,N-DMT, and even 5-meo-DMT. The primary difference from other strong psychedelic medicines is that Cannabis journeyers keep their agency, meaning they can navigate the experience more skillfully, and with greater ease, and they can pause the experience if it becomes overwhelming

The Psychedelic Cannabis Experience does not require high doses, but is exponentially stronger than an experience that is typically associated with cannabis alone. Cannabis is the safest psychedelic medicine available and can be regularly and safely used for ongoing Psychedelic Therapy and Psychedelic Exploration purposes.

The Somatic Psychedelic™

We refer to cannabis as the “Somatic Psychedelic™” because it effects both the 5-HT2A receptor of the brain (which other psychedelics activate) as well as the endocannabinoid system in the body.  These sessions provide a full body and soul holistic experience that is deeply healing, both physically, emotionally, spiritually and mentally.

These are deep experiences that are typically experienced in a three to five hour session that generally include music and periods of the client turning inward and the guide or therapist holding space. However, just because cannabis journeys are generally shorter than other psychedelics, it doesn’t necessarily mean they are less intense. The primary difference is a greater sense of agency and safety, with all of the benefits of other psychedelic medicine experiences.

Our clients commonly report experiences that are as potent and psychedelic as MDMA, Psilocybin, Ayahuasca and even DMT.

  • Psychedelic Cannabis is such a wonderful medicine. Not only can Cannabis mimic all the other psychedelics, but it is considered the Consensual Psychedelic because of the sense of agency, meaning that at any time you can step out of and then back into the journey as needed. Cannabis is also referred to as the Somatic Psychedelic because of its effect on the endocannabinoid system and the body, encouraging the release of physically held trauma and tension. And, it is incredibly powerful while also being extremely gentle, having been compared as “just as powerful as Ayahuasca, and gentler on the body”.
